CASE was hired by Bohlin, Cywinski, Jackson (BCJ), the architect of a new $85-million, 218,000 sq. ft. academic building at Georgia Institute of Technology, to provide daylighting and solar exposure consulting during Design Development. Leveraging a Schematic Design model and drawings provided by the architect, CASE created and attributed purpose-built analytical BIMs of critical areas of the building, such as the primary atrium circulation space and typical classrooms and offices. The analytical BIMs were developed specifically to allow for the iterative creation and evaluation of various daylighting and solar shading approaches, which were used to provide timely feedback on a rapidly changing design.
