Robins and Morton (R&M) wanted to derive additional value from the comprehensive BIM the company was using to coordinate the construction of a new 460,000 sq. ft. healthcare facility. Working with the R&M BIM team and the owner’s facility managers, CASE identified a strategy to develop a custom BIM-based asset management platform. The asset management platform enabled R&M to deliver a tool that adds value to the owner by displacing thousands of individual files and printed documents that are typically turned over at the end of construction with an informationārich spatial database. This process allowed the owner and R&M to link all closeouts, submittals, warranty documentation, space management and training videos to spatial BIM objects. All of these documents are searchable within a single database enabling the building managers to easily locate and identify relevant building information. By building this platform as a custom solution, CASE was able to develop functionality that specifically addressed the business processes of the owner.
